Michelle M. Pillow, New York Times bestselling romance author

Here is a thing I do not say often enough: I have written a lot of books, across paranormal romance, romantasy, sci-fi romance, urban fantasy, paranormal women’s fiction, and a few cozy mysteries for good measure. That is wonderful for me. It is slightly less wonderful for your wallet if you just found me and want to read all of it immediately.

So let me make something clear. I would always rather you read my stories than not read them. I only ask one thing: please get them from somewhere legal. I know the pirate sites are out there, and I know the temptation when the books add up. But every stolen download takes something real from the author who wrote it, and it is often the line between a writer getting to keep going and having to stop. The good news is that you never need those sites. If buying every book is not in the budget this month, there are real, legal ways to read (and listen to) most of my catalog for very little, and some of it for actually nothing. Here is the whole map.

Subscribe and Binge (and the First Month Is On the House)

Most of my books, ebooks and audiobooks both, live on the all-you-can-read subscription services. If you read fast, this is the closest thing to a cheat code.

Kobo Plus has my ebooks and my audiobooks. One low monthly price, unlimited reading and listening, no late fees, and no Kobo device required, since the app is free on your phone. New readers get a 30-day trial at no cost, which, if you are the kind of person who inhales a whole series in a weekend, is a genuinely dangerous amount of reading to hand someone. You can find all of me on Kobo here.

Everand (you might remember it as Scribd) carries my ebooks and audiobooks too, if that is more your speed. My Everand author page is here.

Borrow It Completely Free From Your Library

This one costs you nothing and still supports me at the same time. When your library buys or licenses my books, that counts. You get to read for the price of a library card, which is to say the price of being alive near a library.

Hoopla is one of the easiest, because if your library offers it, my ebooks and audiobooks are right there waiting. Here is my Hoopla page. You borrow with your library card, and it does not touch your personal budget at all.

You can also find me through Libby (from OverDrive), cloudLibrary, and BorrowBox. These three work a little differently. What shows up depends on your specific library, so there is no single link I can hand you that works for everyone. Just open whichever app your library uses, search my name, and borrow. If a book is checked out, place a hold and it drops into your account the second it frees up. Bonus: the audiobooks are perfect for a commute.

If Your Library Does Not Have Me Yet

Two things you can do, and both of them genuinely help.

First, request me. Most libraries let you suggest titles for purchase, and librarians actually pay attention to those requests. If enough readers ask for a book, it tends to show up. So if you want my dragons, my vampires, or my warlocks on your library’s digital shelves, tell them. I promise this is not a bother. It is literally part of the job, and librarians like knowing what their community wants to read. Bonus: Get your reader friends to request them as well. The more requests = the more likely they are to pick up the books.

Second, if your library does not lend ebooks or audiobooks at all, some larger library systems offer non-resident cards for a modest annual fee, which can unlock a far bigger digital collection than a small local branch. Book Riot keeps a running list of libraries with non-resident borrowing privileges if you want to see what is out there.

Want to Own Them? Here Is How to Spend the Least

If you are like me and you want the books permanently in your own library, no due dates, no holds, no waiting in line behind three other people who also love a good fated-mates plot, buying direct and grabbing a bundle is the way to spend the least per book.

I put complete-series ebook bundles and box sets up at michellepillowbooks.com, and they work out to a lot less per book than buying one at a time. I run sales there too, and first-in-series books are often priced low on purpose so you can try a whole world without committing your grocery money. Barbarian Prince, the first Dragon Lords book and the usual front door into my giant Qurilixen World, is a great place to start.

Buying direct also means more of what you spend actually reaches me, which keeps me writing more books for you to eventually need a bundle of. Full circle.

Get the Sales Before I Have to Remind You

I do run price drops and first-in-series freebies. Two easy ways to stay ahead of them. Follow me on BookBub and their alerts will (sometimes) tell you the second one of my books goes on sale or free, no scrolling required. Or the best bet: sign up for my newsletter, where sales and new releases land straight in your inbox.

However You Read, I Am Just Glad You Are Here

Here is the truth under all of this. Buy them, borrow them, binge them on a subscription, or listen to them on your drive. Whatever gets my characters into your head and your heart is the right way. I wrote these books to be read, and I am happy every single time they are.

And if you fall in love with them, come find your people. I run a reader community called the Pillow Fighters, and it is basically an endless pajama slumber party for people who do not just read these books but love them. Being awesome is free. There is no cost to join. And the first rule, which I say with my whole heart, is that you talk about Pillow Fight Club.

Happy reading. Go get comfortable.

Love,
